Aviatik D1
Aviatik made a great many aircraft, many of which were two-engine, twin-seat bombers and reconnaissance aircraft. These were mainly the B series. So when an Allied pilot reported downing an Aviatik, he would also have had to specify whether it was a single seat, twin seat, twin engine, etc. aircraft in order to figure out what he shot down.  The Aviatik D series were designed as single engine fighters. A small series was built, and considered superior to the Albatros D V. It first flew in 1917.
